It is Christmas Eve

Today was Christmas Eve for Marion and myself, even if it was one week early. It is our tradition to have a fish and chip lunch at our local café The Yew Tree on Christmas Eve. However this year we have been invited out to dinner on the evening of Christmas Eve. This really disturbed our equilibrium because we are creatures of habit particularly around Christmas. So what did we do, we simply move Christmas Eve.

So on an unseasonably warm day in Scarborough we drove to the Yew Tree Café, now this is the sort of eating establishment that every community needs. It has about thirty odd covers, the welcome is always warm, and the food excellent. We always come out feeling better than when we enter. Supremely they cook excellent fish and chips.

We have had many celebrations there including taking it over completely for Marion’s last significant birthday. One of the nice features of the café are the quirky decorations. From close examination you will see the seasonal additions to the decorations.

If ever you find yourself in the north part of Scarborough, drop in for lunch or dinner and in particular some fish and chips.

The only disappointment was that instead of returning home to a glass of sherry and the traditional service at Kings College, Cambridge, we went to do the dry goods shopping at the supermarket. That is the problem, nobody else moved Christmas Eve!!!
