I am hoping that this will be the start of something great, and that I will be able to a journey with family, friends, colleagues and the world at large. I expect that it will be a great learning process for me and perhaps I will give my readership some pleasure and just possibly some insights. I am not naturally a sharer so it maybe awkward at times, it will certainly cause a few chuckles probably all inadvertently. At all times I will be open to comments and criticism, please just keep it polite.
So what is this blog going to be about, the honest answer is that at the moment I do not know. At the outset it will be an attempt to share my life, rant a little, make vague musings and generally comment anything that come along. One thing that I hope is that it will never be boring and always worth reading. Of one thing I am certain that when I look back the result will be completely different. My objective is to make at least three posts a week, so please encourage me.
I am starting this blog at a watershed for myself, I have recently passed my sixtieth birthday, I am retiring from work, and my mother passed away this autumn. So initially a recurring theme will be my preparation for and path through this period of my life. The first posts will give some background to my life, those around me and where I live. They will also talk about the challenges in front of me.
So here goes, I am a sixty year old man who has lived on the coast of North Yorkshire for 26 years, I have been married for 36 years, have two great children with fantastic spouses, and two lovely grandchildren. Latterly I worked as a freelance Programme Manager, mainly in London, but have also travelled extensively. I enjoy soccer and have always supported my local team, so have suffered with Middlesbrough since 1999. I enjoy going to the theatre where I have eclectic tastes, I love travelling with my wife, and have some interesting political opinions. In future blogs I will be talking more about what I am doing currently.
Good luck with this endeavour. Liking the international-friendly language ........"soccer"
