Today has been a lovely summers day. The temperature
has remained in the early twenties all day. I had targeted some external
painting that needed doing and completed everything by 5 pm. So it was down
with the top on the mini and off for a drive round the seafront. Even better we
found a rare parking space in South Bay opposite the Harbour Bar. Why is this
good because the Harbour Bar quite simply serves the best soft ice cream I have
eaten? It is made on the premises and has the maximum proportion of natural
ingredients. The cornets are just fabulous.
After waiting in the considerable queue I had a
chocolate twist and Marion a lemon twist. We strolled along the harbour front
dodging the marauding seagulls thoroughly enjoying this sensuous pleasure.
So we had our dinner in reverse order, pudding before
mains. That is the delight of retirement and a warm day. There is also a great
pleasure in feeling that you are eating something illicitly, not quite
prohibition but almost.
Well, we lacked the mini, but did pull in, with our Subaru loaded with bikes and gear, to Giffords Ice Cream in Farmington, Maine, on the trip back from PEI. The cool, smoth boost powered us home, or at least the various combos of espresso, coffee and chocolate flavors we enjoyed did the job! Well done! I think I remember the Harbor Bar from when Gaelan and I visited. I do remember the walk along the sea there -just lovely!
