The Garden is Changing

Although at time the wind still makes it seem like late winter the garden is changing, evolving into summer. You can see from the picture of our apple tree that the blossom is particularly strong this year. However the season of growth means that there is much to do in the garden.

Marion has the great idea that we will have raised beds at the front of the house. It sounded a great idea until the wood came. I envisaged a sort of IKEA garden kit that I could put together with an allan key. No such luck, what I was presented with was several planks of wood, some sticks and lots of screws. The wood had some rudimentary holes drilled and that was about all.

So what I though would take about an hour in fact started at 2pm and was completed at some time after 7pm. The great thing was that the raised beds were completed and are in place, and I deserved a welcome beer before dinner. I also feel nicely tired as this morning I walked to the dentist and back. Well in advance of my 10,000 step target.

Meanwhile there will be something else to do in the garden tomorrow, I have to fill the raised beds, then infill the area round the raised beds with decorative stones. Presumably I also will have to plant the raised beds.

It is great that it is only three weeks to our holiday!

  1. At least you didn't have to drill the holes.

The name's Sheppard. Nigel Sheppard. Licence to drill.
