Day 6 – The end is nigh

Perhaps because there are no photographs to accompany this blog you can get the sense that today was a little bit of an anti-climax. The weather was not good with quite heavy rain in the late morning. After some days of very interesting walking today’s route was dull, paralleling a main road for much of its length. There was only one piece of exposed wall for the whole length of the walk, though it was obvious that we were frequently walking on top of it.

However perhaps because it was like this it was a good day for reflection and it set me thinking about many things that were totally unconnected to our walk. I was for instance able to work through some ways to start the dissertation work that I will start in October. The mundane helps the concentration in this respect; there are not the distractions of great scenery.

So tomorrow, the final day there are just less than nine miles left until we say goodbye to the wall, with some sadness but in my case anticipation of a holiday to come.
