Easter Weekend (2)

We had a great day today with the family in our early celebration of Easter. There were lots of early preparations before the family arrived just before eleven. After cuddles and the welcome we started with the Easter egg hunt. Marion had embroidered a goodie back for each for the girls to collect eggs in. Unfortunately it had been wet so the clues were hidden round the house. The hunt began with Millie reading the clues and Martha bundling the eggs into her bag as soon as possible. It did not take much frenzied hunting for all the eggs to be recovered. There was then some munching of the Easter eggs, but it was quite restrained. Here is a photo of the two successful egg hunters.

So what was next, the traditional Easter bonnet making competition? Five hats were placed on the table together with a whole host of decorations and glue. Much fun was had trying to tie ribbons round the hats and gluing sequins around rim. There may have been more glue on the tables and floors than the hats but the results were spectacular. So then it was time for the Easter Parade and some informal judging.

As everybody was a little (very) over excited by this time it was judged that the cake decoration should be postponed to another day. Instead it was a visit to the park. As soon as we arrived it was obvious that Millie would only be satisfied by a voyage on the pedalos. She was not to be denied, so the younger members of the family pedalled round the Peasholm Park lake.

It was time for the older members to drive home to prepare the dinner, while the younger ones consumed ice cream and enjoyed the water flume and the miniature railway. At this stage maybe due to the excitement there was some sickness amongst the younger generation. So although dinner was fantastic all the adults did a sterling job in marshalling Millie and Martha. So it is now 8pm and everybody is resting the weary feet after a wonderful family day.
