No it is not because I implied in yesterday’s blog
that I would be telling Marion how to vote, and she has upped and left. Marion
has driven to visit her parents for the weekend so I am fending for myself. I
realise that this is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black as for several
years I have been away from home leaving Marion to cope with her own company.
So today after seeing Marion off at around 9.30 I
headed for the gym, it is interesting that with no time pressure I had a really
good hour-long session. Then I have been doing some work for my old employer
punctuated by the odd break for coffee and lunch. By 6pm I had become a little
distracted so decided to have a bath listening to a satire on the radio. The
funniest piece was a skit on the Queen welcoming the right to buy programme, saying
that she had a central London property on which she could make a quick killing.
Then it was the staple of the single male, a micro waved plate dinner. It was
very tasty but not the same as eating it in company.
Still I cannot complain as it does not happen very
often, and besides I can watch what I like on TV tonight. However it will be
nerve wracking however as Middlesbrough are playing a critical game tonight
against one of their promotion rivals so I will be anxiously looking for
updates.
Anyway I must not pour this on with a trowel as
tomorrow Laura is coming for the weekend, so I will have plenty of company.
On a serious note I was only reading this week how loneliness
is a major problem for the elderly. My guess is that people get desperate for
somebody to talk to. It is a simple thing that we could all do something about
but so rarely do. Food for thought.
Both of my men were glued to the Middlesbrough game last night, although they did pause the recording at half time to watch another program for my enjoyment. However, within a minute after I left the room to go to bed, I heard the game back on! So relieved to learn the positive outcome this morning. Both men seemed quite cheery as they started their weekend this morning:). Enjoy Laura - so nice to have our adult children home for visits!
