It is hard to analyse what
gives me a very contented feeling on a Sunday evening. I just know that this is
a personal thing and will illustrate this in two ways.
I have had a very content Sunday.
Firstly I slept very well waking quite late and
getting up in a relaxed fashion to a simple breakfast with good
coffee/conversation.
I then undertook some simple jobs, nothing too
arduous, I nailed two pictures to the wall and helped Marion sort some of the
artefacts that we had brought back from my mother’s.
After that it was a trip to the gym. Although at
first on the cross-trainer I felt really stiff, presumably the moving exertions
of earlier in the week, I improved quickly and posed one of my best times for
2000 metres on the rowing machine. As I was limited for time it was a short
sharp session over thirty-five minutes, so that after an invigorating shower I
was raring to go.
Then we visited our good friends Sylvia and Iain for
lunch. It was one of those very relaxed lunches, of good food, wine, and varied
conversation. So much so that lunch stretched to 6.30pm. It is difficult to
precisely say what makes for a successful meal, but all the ingredients aligned
today. Fortunately it was Marion’s turn to drive (see last Sunday). While we at
lunch the weather improved so it was by now a lovely sunny evening rather than
the dreary wet day it had previously been.
Hence I was well motivated to catch-up with a few
personal emails. Even better, now that I am retired I did not have to think
about getting up early to travel to London tomorrow.
My Son and Daughter-in-Law are on holiday and their
Sunday obviously was very different. This is well illustrated by the photos
that Alison took. Not only do these reflect what looked like a great day, but
also I would like to showcase some of the fantastic photos that Alison is
taking.
Love the image you paint, and Alison's pictures are wonderful! It is FINALLY spring here. Though still nippy in the morning, the warm sun (it stil exists!!) soon warms us to 55 degrees, or, pause for it, into the sixties! Hillary posted a temperature graph of Lome. 91 degrees and 73 percent humidity. Wait 'till she returns to us next November...!
